Joined Mulanthuruthy Seminary in 1974 and was ordained
as a Deacon by Late H.G.Dr. Geevarghese Mor Gregorious on 02/06/1974 at St. Mary's Church Pampady. On completion of theological
studies at the seminary and Manjinikkara Dayara he was ordained as a priest on 25/09/1977 at St. Mary's Jacobite Syriac Church,
Pangada by the late lamented H.B Baselios Poulose 2nd, the Catholicose of the East. He served as a vicar in several
churches Kottayam diocese and Outer Kerala Diocese including Gulf counties. At present he serves as a priest in the
Malankara Archdiocese in United States of America. Fr. Mathews Kavunkal has captured minds of the faithfuls with his cheerful
and friendly ways, attractive and devotional Holy Qurbana, Melodious songs and personal interests in affairs of parishioners
and above all with his excellent leadership qualities and organising capacity.
